We are the father/son team of Oscar Javier Biolley Santamaría and Oscar Biolley Quesada, responsible for the instruments you will see on this website. We are based in the beautiful country of Costa Rica, in the city of Cartago. If you ever find yourself here and would like to stop by and visit us, please let us know so we can arrange a time. About Us
We have built traditional marimbas commercially since the year 2008 and concert ones since the year 2012. We are keenly aware of our history and connection with the marimba tradition and truly love what we do! The marimba has a very special place in the hearts of the people from Costa Rica, as it is our national instrument, and we are very proud that through the care we put behind every detail of the construction of our marimbas, we can share that happiness with our clients!
As you will be able to read elsewhere on this website, we have worked very closely with Fernando Meza, one of Costa Rica's most distinguished musicians and currently Chair of Percussion Studies at the University of Minnesota School of Music. Through this very close relationship, we have grown immensely as builders and have developed unique ways to approach the artistic requirements of marimba players worldwide.
